FAQs

How often Should I clean or have my stove cleaned?
The more pellets a stove burns, the dirtier it will get. The inside of the firebox and ash pan should not be allowed to fill up with ash. Based on your usage you may need to clean the ash pan and firebox every 4-7 days by the homeowner. Each year or 3 tons of pellets a full annual cleaning should be performed.
WHen should I schedule an annual cleaning with LPC?
An annual cleaning should be scheduled during the warmer months. We become very busy during the colder time of year and may not be able to schedule an appointment right away.
What should I do if the glass window of my stove is getting dark black?
A dark black ash vs. a white ash inside the stove means that the flame is not burning efficiently due to improper airflow. This can usually be fixed with a good cleaning.
I am looking to buy a pellet stove. How do i know which stove will work best in my home and in what location?
We offer free estimates where we come to your home to help you determine the best stove to purchase and a location within your home to install.
Can you install a stove using an existing fireplace including zero clearance?
Absolutely, but to be sure have us come for a free estimate.
should i use hardwood or softwood pellets?
Follow this link to WoodPellets.com for an excellent description of both Hardwood and Softwood pellets.
WHat happens if i lose power?
If the stove is unplugged or power is lost, the flame will burn out and not feed more pellets. Due to the loss of power the exhaust motor will not move the smoke out of the stove and may seep out until the pellets have burned completely. This is not a danger and the fire will not leave the firebox.
SHould i get a building permit for installation?
Yes, a permit is required by all municipalities for a pellet stove. All clearances from combustibles should be observed.
